FAQs

Is this the same Stump camera as used on TV?

No. The broadcast TV version is made by Camera Corps, and works quite differently! A Broadcast-quality camera and lens are placed inside a modified stump, and linked via fibre optic to a multi-plexing system underground towards one end of the square. From here, the signal(s) are fed to the broadcast control room. Professional systems typically have two cameras at each end, with a selection of angles or fields-of-view. These cameras are approved by the ECB and ICC. We don’t have anything to do with Camera Corps, but of course are admirers of their work!

What software is the Stumpcam compatible with?

During our R&D phase we are not committing to either software provider, as the camera is a self-contained transmitter-receiver unit. We expect to make the video stream compatible with as many software packages as possible.

Can I get a discount on a multi-Stumpcam order?

We are working on two assumptions for year 1, first that most clubs will start with 1 set to see how they get on. Secondly, we need to give buyers confidence in the product by offering a guarantee on every stump sold.

How much will Stumpcam cost?

We are aiming for a cost that is affordable to all cricket clubs.

Please can you add a custom feature?

Maybe! Give us feedback via the Contact us page, we’ll collate this and see if we can work it into our development plans for future versions of the product.

Can I paint or wrap the Stumpcam?

We are currently experimenting with custom vinyl wrapping on our prototype sets but are not currently offering this directly. We hope to offer this in 2026.

I live outside the UK, can I order?

We’re just getting started, so we are only supporting trial customers in 2025.
